In 2014, Primitives by Kathy outgrew their time and attendance system. Lori Horn, Controller, recalls, “Our old system was not user-friendly, and it had limitations on the number of employee records. Paid time off and short term disability balances were difficult to track, and data did not export very well into Excel. While we started looking for a better provider, we discontinued support and implemented a number of manual workarounds for issues that arose in the interim. This was frustrating for everyone involved, because we didn’t have everything in one place. Certain requests for information required the involvement of two to three people from the IT department, and it was a real challenge when we needed this information right away.”
That is when Primitives by Kathy engaged NE Time Systems.

Describing the difference, Ms. Horn says, “Everything is now at our fingertips. We are now able to perform productivity analysis and time study analysis. We can generate reports at the touch of a button and drop the results into Excel. A lot of people have a lot of faith in the system. It is user-friendly and easy to undo anything you do wrong. If flows naturally and accommodates our reporting needs and the configuration changes that we require. Processing payroll used to involve an extra half day of effort, because we keyed everything in manually. Now we run a report into a pivot-table, and send it to payroll in a format that they can use immediately. It has really streamlined things.”

Ms. Horn continues, “Our supervisors like running reports as well to run their own analysis. What is most compelling about the software is that it is easy to use.”
